EAD 861 Adult Learning - J. DIRKX
EAD 861 is a course that is one of several teaching and learning courses within the Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education (HALE) program in the Department of Educational Administration and the Educational Leadership concentration of the College of Education Online Masters Program in Education. The focus of this course was "adult learning"; both formal (e.g., in classroom-like settings) and informal (e.g., helping patients learn about diabetes self-management or facilitating learning in the workplace). This course was intended to help students develop a better understanding of learning in adulthood and what implications this knowledge holds for helping adults learn in postsecondary and other adult education settings. Throughout the reading, discussions, use of additional resources, and writing assignments, we explored who adult learners are, why they learn, and how they learn. Each of these questions represents substantial bodies of scholarly inquiry.
