EAD 850 Multicultural Education-R. MABOKELA
In an ever-changing world
few communities remain untouched by the demographic shift that is transforming
the United States into a multicultural society. These changes require educators
to think differently about their students, teaching methods and their personal
attitudes and values. This course provided an introduction to multicultural
education using a three-pronged approach that examines the history of ethnic/racial groups in the U.S., the
development of multicultural perspective, and educational strategies
to work with diverse students and curricula. Each of these prongs is important
to gain the competency necessary to be an educator that is knowledgeable of
multicultural issues and sensitive to the unique impact of ethnic, racial, gender and socioeconomic differences in the education of youth in K-12 schools
and students in colleges and universities.
I attached the following paper and a PowerPoint to demonstrate my ability to work collaboratively with peers. The paper is actually an ESL Lesson Plan using Poetry to teach about international cultures, figurative language, listening and speaking skills.
